PROUS stands for Progressive Universal Society. PROUS is a non-profit and social-service organization established and run by spiritual monks (sanyasis). It is dedicated to promoting spirituality, health, education, environmental sustainability and all-round welfare. The roots of the PROUS are connected to the teachings of Shri Shri Anandamurtiji (Ba'ba'), the founder of Ananda Marga. The organization aims to empower individuals and communities by bring changes in individuals based on Neo-Humanistic Ideals taught by Ba'ba'. PROUS seeks to address social issues by creating opportunities for positive change. It is committed to the principles of diversity, inclusion, and respect for all people, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, cast, or religion.

As part of its mission, PROUS establishes various institutions to provide education, healthcare, and other support services to individuals and communities. This includes schools, children's homes, healthcare centers, and yoga centers, which aim to promote a healthy lifestyle and well-being among people. PROUS recognizes that access to quality education and healthcare is crucial for building a more equitable and just society, and it strives to provide these essential services to people who need them the most.

In addition to providing education and healthcare, the Progressive Universal Society also establishes spirituality enhancement centers, women welfare centers, environment protection centers, and cow shelters. The spirituality enhancement centers provide a space for people to explore their inner self and connect with their spirituality. The women welfare centers aim to empower women by providing education, skills training, and other support services to improve their socio-economic status.
